The Economist: Syria has proven its ability to endure, refute lies of “Assad regime”

London, Dec.6 (SANA) A transitional period that exceeded expectations with its success, during which Syria demonstrated an astonishing capacity for resilience, thus refuting the falsehood of “Assad or chaos” propagated by the deposed regime for decades and believed only by those benefiting from its crimes and colluding with it.

British magazine “The Economist,” reported that the only option the Assad regime used to promote was “either its presence in power or facing a state of chaos.” This option collapsed, and this lie fell with the fall of the regime. It pointed to Bashar al-Assad’s tyranny, his refusal to step down, and his heinous crimes of killing and torture committed against the Syrian people.

The magazine praised President Ahmad Al-Sharaa’s performance, describing him as possessing diplomatic skill that preserved the country’s cohesion. It explained that through intensive diplomatic efforts, he succeeded in presenting a new image of Syria to the international community.

It clarified that the greatest proof of the success of the transitional process and the current Syrian government lies in closely examining all the scenarios that did not occur after the fall of the “hated tyrant” Bashar al-Assad. The country did not slip into chaos, no civil war erupted, and none of the lies promoted by the criminal regime came to pass.

The Economist pointed out that President Al-Sharaa’s leadership has been characterized by pragmatism and by dispelling the fears sown by the deposed regime, which had attempted to divide the components of Syrian society. It added that since its liberation, Syria has adopted foreign relations based on good neighborhood and has built bonds of cooperation and partnership with the Arab Gulf states, contributing to increased investment and an improved economy.

The magazine noted that rebuilding and strengthening relations was not limited to neighboring and regional countries. Syria also regained its international relations and position — from the reopening of embassies and its return to its seat in the Arab League, to its participation in significant international events and activities.

As part of the diplomatic efforts, the President sought to reinforce Syria’s presence on the international stage and paid 21 visits to various capitals around the world, mainly his recent trip to Washington, where he held a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on the 10th of last November. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation in various fields.
