Arab States welcome Syria’s Roadmap to Resolve Sweida Crisis

Capitals, SANA-The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed Syria’s announcement of a roadmap to resolve the crisis in Sweida Province, reaffirming its support for all efforts that safeguard Syria’s security, stability, resources, and territorial integrity.

In a statement posted on its official account on X platform , the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renews its support for all steps taken by Syria that promote its security and stability, preserve its resources and territorial unity, contribute to building state institutions and upholding the rule of law, and fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people for a more stable and prosperous future.”

The State of Kuwait also expressed its welcome of Syria’s adoption of the roadmap. In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “We look forward to this important step contributing to the support of Syria’s future and meeting the aspirations of its brotherly people.”

The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s consistent position in support of all regional and international efforts aimed at establishing security and stability in Syria, while preserving its sovereignty and territorial unity.

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit welcomed the adoption of the roadmap to resolve the Sweida crisis, emphasizing that it is based on Syria’s territorial unity and represents a key step toward stabilizing conditions in southern Syria.

Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, stressed the importance of the roadmap’s principles, affirming that Sweida is an integral part of Syria and has no future outside of it, and that all Syrian citizens are equal in rights and responsibilities within their nation.

Earlier, a trilateral meeting was held in Damascus between Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack. The meeting resulted in the formal adoption of the roadmap to resolve the crisis in Sweida and reinforce stability in southern Syria.
