Sochi-SANA
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reiterated its condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, affirming its support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi said during the opening of the eighth ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the Council in Sochi that Syria’s security and stability represent a fundamental pillar of regional security.
Al-Budaiwi also strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar, calling on the international community to condemn it and pressure it to halt Israeli policies that threaten regional stability, noting that these attacks hinder Qatar’s efforts to mediate a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The Council condemned the Israeli occupation’s targeting of humanitarian and UN organizations operating in Gaza and its obstruction of aid delivery.
The Council member states emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, based on the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
