New York – SANA – The Independent Institution on Missing Persons in Syria reaffirmed its commitment to continue efforts to uncover the fate of all missing persons in the country.
In a statement marking the International Day of the Disappeared, and reported by the United Nations News Center, the institution announced it is holding two workshops with families and partners in Germany and Lebanon to test its registration process, underscoring its dedication to supporting families’ right to know the truth.
Institution Head Carla Quintana emphasized: “We will continue working with families, authorities and partners in the field in order to uncover the truth about the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons in Syria.”
The Independent Institution on Missing Persons was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in June 2023. Its mandate is to clarify the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons in Syria and provide adequate support to their families.
