London, May 19 (SANA) Danish company Cadeler has completed installation of the first giant support structure for the UK’s Hornsea 3 project, which is set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm when operations begin in early 2027.
According to Marine Insight, the structure consists of a massive steel monopile foundation measuring around 90 meters in length and weighing approximately 1,670 tons. It is the first of 197 foundations planned for installation as part of the offshore project located off the British coast.
Hornsea 3 is expected to have a production capacity of 2.9 gigawatts, enough to provide clean electricity to more than 3.3 million homes.
Project director Bradley Scott said the milestone reflected years of planning, engineering and coordination, adding that projects of this scale require a high degree of precision and cooperation.
Scott said the contract marked an important step for Cadeler in the offshore wind sector, noting that the company plans to deploy three specialized vessels to complete the installation work in the coming months.
The development comes amid accelerating global investment in renewable energy, particularly offshore wind projects, which continue to expand in scale and generating capacity worldwide.
