London, March 29 (SANA) The Microglossum cyanobasis fungus has been recorded in the United Kingdom for the first time following its discovery at the Kingly Vale nature reserve in West Sussex, southern England.
This marks only the second confirmed sighting of the species in Europe, according to The Guardian. The fungus was first identified in Spain in 2009 and was discovered by amateur mycologist Liz Frost during a survey of an ancient yew woodland.
Experts said the species is typically associated with long-undisturbed habitats, indicating high ecological quality.
