MOSCOW, SANA-An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 hit near the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the USGS, The quake’s epicenter was 111.7 kilometers /69.3 miles/ east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and had a depth of 39 kms,
There were no immediate reports of injuries of major damages.
Following the quake, the US Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami threat for parts of the Pacific. Officials urged residents in coastal areas to stay alert.
