Ankara, Oct. 21 (SANA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Syrian people achieved a great victory on Dec. 8, 2024, adding that it would be recounted for years to come and passed down from one generation to the next.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan made the remarks during a parliamentary meeting of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party on Wednesday.
He said that after nearly 14 years of repression in Syria, the country had witnessed the return of peace, calm and stability despite Israeli provocations.
Under the leadership of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, the Syrian people are building their shared future through unity and solidarity, Erdogan said.
He added that a completely new chapter would open in Syria once the integration process in the north was completed, reaffirming Türkiye’s support for the country.
Commenting on the apprehension of criminals from the former regime era who were involved in the bloodshed of Syrians, including Ali Kayali, also known as Mihrac Ural, Erdogan said significant developments were taking place in Syria that should serve as a lesson, particularly to tyrants and murderers.
“The cries of the oppressed do not go unheard,” he said.
Last week, Syria’s General Intelligence Service arrested Mihrac Ural, one of the leading figures responsible for the 2013 Baniyas massacre, as he attempted to flee across the border.
