Firmen confront fires in the Northern Lattakia Countryside despite active winds

Lattakia, SANA-Fires in the northern Lattakia countryside continued to spread, driven by harsh weather conditions that hampered firefighting efforts and accelerated the spread of the flames. This led to the closure of main roads and the evacuation of an additional number of residents from villages near danger zones.

Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, and Lattakia Governor, Mohammad Othman, inspected the progress of extinguishing operations. In a statement to SANA reporter, al-Saleh said that emergency teams are currently responding to more than 40 fires in more than 20 areas across Syria, with the Qastal Maaf fire considered one of the most dangerous.

Lattakia Governor affirmed that the relevant authorities worked to evacuate villages near the fires as part of efforts to ensure the safety and protection of residents and keep them away from danger zones. He noted that two injuries were recorded and were treated by emergency teams.

He noted that additional support is expected to arrive from the Turkish side in the coming hours to support the efforts of the Syrian Civil Defense firefighting teams, the Directorate of Agriculture and the local community.
