Damascus, SANA-Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh, said that immediate reinforcements and additional teams were sent to the Qastal Maaf area in Lattakia countryside which witnessed an expansion in the area of forest fires today with the intensification of winds and rising temperatures.
In a statement, Al-Saleh explained that the fire brigades are facing great difficulties due to the rugged terrain of the area, the lack of rehabilitation of forests and roads, and the remote water supply sources, in addition to the presence of war remnants and mines, with increased wind speed activity and high temperatures, causing the fire to reignite.
Al-Saleh said that ‘’ The Ministry is closely following developments in the field situation, to ensure the safety of the people and protect the forest cover, and is coordinating with the rest of the state ministries to confront the fire.
