Information Minister Dr. Hamza Al-Mustafa, said during the signing ceremony at the People’s Palace: “Today, we are signing a memorandum of understanding between Information Ministry and al-Maha International Art Production Company to launch a strategic project called (Damascus Gate), the first integrated project for a media, film, and tourism production city in Syria.”

“The $ 1.5 billion Damascus Gate city is the first strategic integrated project to build a city for media, film, and tourism production in Syria that comes in line with the strategic state policies to attract unique development projects.” The minister added.

Al- Mustafa said that “The project will be built on an area of approximately 2 million square meters in Damascus and Damascus countryside governorates and will include outdoor studios that mimic the historical architecture of Arab and Islamic cities, indoor studios equipped with the latest broadcasting and production technologies.”

He added that the city will contain “training and rehabilitation centers, operational facilities, and integrated tourism and entertainment facilities” that will open doors for Syria to become a regional center of attraction for international production companies.

The Minister of Information noted that the project is expected to “provide more than 4,000 direct job opportunities, and 9,000 seasonal job opportunities in various fields” that will serve as a stability factor and sustainable professional career for thousands of young Syrians.

Mohammed Al-Enzi, Chairman of Al-Maha International Company said after signing the memorandum of understanding: “On behalf of Al-Maha Company, and the entire team working on (Damascus Gate) City, it is my honor to share with you this historic moment in the course of building New Syria. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Syrians for the liberation of their homeland, its return to them, and our return to it.”

“Today, from Damascus, we launch our cultural project, born from the will of the Syrian people” Al- Anzi added.

Al-Enzi explained that Al-Maha Company is proposing the “Damascus Gate” project not as a mere real estate or tourism investment, but rather as a cultural project that derives its meaning from the identity of the new Syria and as a platform from which Syria exports its art and cultural image to the world.

He expressed his deepest gratitude to the Syrian Presidency, the government, and the Ministry of Information for the warm welcome, saying that it “embodies the nation’s steadfast commitment to its values, its openness to creativity, and its dedication to transforming opportunities into tangible achievements”.
