First Digital Creativity Forum discusses boosting staff capacities to keep up with modern developments

Damascus, SANA-Under the theme “Towards a Digital Future with a Syrian Creative Industry,” the Damascus Opera House hosted the First Digital Creativity Forum on Wednesday, sponsored by the Syrian Academy for Training and Consulting at the Ministry of Information.

The forum discussed the importance of digital innovation in developing media work and boosting staff capabilities to keep pace with the developments of the digital and knowledge age.

In his speech, Minister of Information Dr. Hamza al-Mustafa stressed that the forum is the first base in a long journey, as the legacy of the former regime in terms of digital backwardness is significant. We ,at the Ministry of Information, pledge to support and sponsor all digital initiatives.

Minister al-Mustafa pointed out that during the Syrian revolution in 2011, the former regime closed all public spaces leading to demonstrations, especially on Good Fridays. When the public spaces were closed, Syrians sought a public space where they could interact, create their values and symbols, name their gatherings, and raise their slogans. The digital transformation was a catalyst, leading to significant communication and connectivity across Syria and the continuity of the revolution, which concluded with the victory of December 8, 2024.

For his part, -Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal: “We are continuously striving to make up for the 14-year period that Syria went through, during which the world made great strides in technology, while Syria was at a standstill except for one thing: the capabilities of its people and youth, and of Syrian individuals around the world who are today raising the country to new heights.”

The minster added that we all share a great responsibility, as we are in the process of establishing the country on new concepts and values, especially given that Syria possesses significant advantages and resources, the most important of which are its human and geographical capabilities.
