Ministry of Emergency, Planning and Statistics Commission discuss building data-driven response systems

Damascus, SANA- Raed al-Saleh, Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, has discussed with a delegation from the Planning and Statistics Commission ways to develop national capabilities in planning and statistics and build response systems that rely on accurate data and advanced analysis.

During the meeting, held Wednesday at the Ministry’s building in Damascus, participants discussed a proposal to establish specialized planning and statistics departments within the Ministry.

They also considered forming working groups in each ministry and governorate to analyze indicators and formulate realistic operational plans that keep pace with challenges and support decision-makers.

Both sides emphasized the importance of integrating databases and activating information exchange, especially concerning vital installations and hazardous and chemical materials. This aims to enhance the readiness of firefighting and rescue teams, accurately identify risks, and strengthen cooperation in data entry and analysis.

The two sides agreed on the necessity of working to establish a joint national information repository. This repository would contribute to developing accurate statistics and evidence-based decisions, thereby enhancing the state’s ability to effectively predict and respond to risks.
