Damascus, SANA – Dr. Badr Ya’rub, Minister of Transport, has met with a delegation from the international engineering firm “Khatib & Alami,” led by Dr. Najib Khatib, the company’s CEO and Chairman of the Board, along with his accompanying delegation. The minister reviewed investment opportunities and potential within the Syrian transport sector.

During the meeting held Monday at the Ministry’s building, the delegation presented the company’s work areas and specialization in infrastructure fields, such as roads, railways, tunnels, and bridges.

Both sides discussed avenues and prospects for cooperation, as well as prioritizing work for implementing engineering projects in land transport and rehabilitating railways. They also discussed conducting economic feasibility studies for the Damascus Metro project and international roads.

Minister Badr explained that the Ministry is working to create a more competitive and attractive investment climate, simplifying procedures and overcoming obstacles.

He outlined the Ministry’s priorities, including reactivating railway lines with neighboring countries like Iraq, Jordan, and Turkey for goods transport, to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people.

For his part, Khatib affirmed the company’s interest in investing in Syria’s transport sector, expressing readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport to implement strategic projects and vital roads.
