Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic

Decree No. (19) of 2025 Forming the National Authority for Missing Persons

Based on the powers granted to the administration of the Syrian Arab Republic, and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitutional Declaration, and in order to uncover the fate of thousands of missing persons in Syria, even if they are their relatives, the following is declared::

An independent body called the “National Authority for Missing Persons” will be formed.

The Authority is tasked with investigating and uncovering the fate of missing and forcibly disappeared persons, documenting cases, establishing a national database, and providing legal and humanitarian support to their families.

Mr. Mohammad Reda Jalkhi is appointed as Chairman of the Authority, and is charged with forming a working team to begin internal work within a maximum period of (30) days from the date of this announcement.
