Agriculture Minister: Lifting sanctions a step towards achieving food security

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Agriculture Dr. Amjad Badr affirmed that lifting sanctions on Syria and restoring access to the SWIFT system would facilitate financial transactions and promote greater transparency. This, in turn, would encourage various investors to support and invest in the agricultural sector.

In a statement published on the ministry’s Telegram channel, Minister Badr noted that removing these sanctions would be a turning point, contributing to food security, reinforcing Syria’s role in the global economy, reducing the costs of agricultural supplies, lowering production expenses, and revitalizing foreign trade in agricultural goods.

Badr also highlighted the organic connection between the agricultural and industrial sectors across various fields, emphasizing that this synergy would attract industrial investments, expand cultivated land, boost production, and enhance sustainable development in agriculture.
