Information Ministry: Hostile parties intensify their provocative campaigns through the media aimed at spreading misinformation

Damascus, SANA-The Ministry of Information affirmed that hostile parties are intensifying their provocative campaigns through the media with the aim of stirring up chaos and spreading misinformation.

The ministry said in a statement published on its Telegram channel Sunday that systematic attempts have been monitored over the past two days to re-circulate old photos and video clips, some of which date back to previous years and others taken from outside the country.

The ministry indicated that the goal of these attempts is to manipulate public opinion and present them as current events on the Syrian coast, in a clear attempt to stir up strife and destabilize.

It called on citizens to be aware and not to be drawn into misleading news that targets the social fabric, stressing the need to rely on official sources to obtain accurate information, given its importance in maintaining security and civil peace.

The Ministry also called on Arab and Western media to deal accurately and credibly with current events and not to fall into the traps of rumors that are being circulated on social media in an escalating and systematic manner.
