Agricultural Research Center in Daraa conducts 87 studies to develop high-yield varieties

Daraa, SANA- Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Daraa has conducted 87 agricultural studies and experiments on wheat, barley, chickpeas, and lentils during the current agricultural season at the Izraa and Jlein stations, aiming to develop high-yield varieties that surpass the locally adopted varieties.

The head of the center, Dr. Asma Abdul Jalil, told SANA Sunday that the center, through the Crop Research Department, has fully implemented its plan for the current season, and that the agricultural sector is facing significant challenges this season, such as drought and reduced rainfall.

The Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Daraa operates five stations, including two crop research stations in Izraa and Jlein. The other three stations have been damaged due to the previous regime’s bombing in al-Samaqiyat, al-Muzayrib, and al-Yadouda.

All these stations are affiliated with the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research in the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
