Damascus, Dec. 8 (SANA) Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab said Monday that the country has reached “a historic moment” as citizens mark the first anniversary of liberation, describing the period as the beginning of a new phase focused on reconstruction and national responsibility.
In a statement posted on (X), Khattab said Syrians are “writing a new chapter with hope and determination,” adding that the will to rebuild the country “is stronger than any challenge.” He noted that the end of oppression came after “significant sacrifices and acts of heroism” that will remain part of the nation’s collective memory.
Khattab emphasized that the anniversary is both a moment of pride and a reminder of the work ahead. “Liberation is not the end—it is the starting point for rebuilding,” he said, urging Syrians to honor those who lost their lives during the struggle.
The minister called on officials and citizens alike to embrace a shared national responsibility in the post-liberation period, stressing the need for “awareness, commitment, and accountability” as Syria moves toward stability and reconstruction
