Damascus, 29 Nov (SANA) Member of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Grand Mufti of Damascus, Sheikh Abdul Fattah Al-Bazm, denied reports about his knowledge of a statement attributed to him which rejects calls to take part in celebrations marking the anniversary of “Deterrence of Aggression.”
In a statement to SANA on Saturday , Sheikh Al-Bazm said: “I read a statement issued by a side that claims to represent the scholars of Syria, in which my name was included. The statement declares its authors’ rejection of the calls by Damascus Directorate of Religious Endowments to demonstrate after Friday prayers on November 28, 2025.”
“On this occasion, I call upon our noble Syrian people to unite ranks, strengthen our stand،, mobilize our national energies, and preserve civil peace,” the Mufti added.
Syrian provinces witnessed popular celebrations yesterday marking the anniversary of the launch of the liberation battle “Deterrence of Aggression,” affirming national unity and rejecting Israeli attacks.
