Syrian Minister of Justice, Mazhar Al‑Wais, discussed on Thursday with The United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict , means of enhancing mutual cooperation in field of law.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, addressed the importance of developing rule‑of‑law responses that focus on survivors of conflict‑related sexual violence, the necessity of implementing transitional justice, and approaches based on supporting survivors and providing them with the required assistance.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of coordination among all relevant parties to achieve these goals.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Justice also discussed with Amnesty International prospects for cooperation in the fields of human rights and law, and the possibility of international organizations supporting efforts to document violations and abuses and provide redress.
