Authorities in Tartous arrest criminal Raslan involved in Bayda massacre

Damascus – SANA

The Internal Security Command in Tartous province announced the arrest of criminal Ali Kasir Raslan, a former first sergeant in the State Security Branch in Tartous during the era of the deposed regime, who was involved in committing war crimes and grave violations against civilians in the city.

Interior Ministry said on its Telegram channel that, based on precise security information followed by the Internal Security Command in Tartous, the authorities concerned carried out a special operation that resulted in the arrest of Raslan.

Initial investigations revealed his direct involvement in the raid on the town of Bayda in the countryside of Baniyas in 2011, which led to crimes including torture and arbitrary arrests of civilians from the town.

Several video recordings documented his appearance while torturing detainees, proving his active participation in these violations.

The statement added that the criminal was referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations in preparation for his appearance before the judiciary to receive his punishment according to the law.
