Two Syrian soldiers martyred in SDF attack on Maadan in Raqqa – Ministry of Defense

Two Syrian Army soldiers were martyred, and several others wounded early Thursday in a “treacherous attack by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on army positions in the Maadan area of Raqqa countryside,” the Ministry of Defense‘s Media Directorate said.

The Directorate told SANA that the SDF attacked Syrian Army positions in Maadan after midnight, taking control of several sites following heavy shelling with various types of weapons. “This resulted in the martyrdom of two soldiers and the wounding of others,” it said.

The Directorate added that “Our forces responded to the sources of fire and launched a direct counterattack, regaining control of the positions and expelling the attacking forces.”

It further stated that the Ministry of Defense “holds the SDF responsible for the consequences of this treacherous and recurring attack, which occurs almost daily, on the positions of the Syrian Arab Army.”
