Two civilians were killed on Tuesday when a civilian passenger bus was attacked by terrorists on the Sweida–Damascus highway, the province’s Internal Security chief said, describing the assault as a “cowardly attempt to sow fear and disturb stability” in southern Syria.
A civilian passenger bus traveling on the Sweida–Damascus road came under a terrorist attack aimed at taking innocent lives, the commander of Internal Security in Sweida province, Brig. Gen. Hussam al-Tahhan told SANA on Tuesday.
“The assault resulted in the martyrdom of two civilians, may God have mercy on them,” Brig. Gen. al-Tahhan said, describing the attack as “a desperate attempt to shake security and intimidate citizens seeking stability.”
The official noted that the incident came only two days after a series of systematic attacks targeting both civilians and security patrols in rural parts of the province by armed gangs operating outside the law.
“The recurrence of these assaults confirms a single scheme and a single goal – striking stability and spreading fear among the population,” he added.
Al-Tahhan affirmed that security forces will not be deterred by such acts and will continue investigations with full determination to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice
