Syrian Customs Seize 200,000 Captagon Pills Smuggled from Lebanon

Syrian customs officials at the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing have foiled an attempt to smuggle nearly 200,000 Captagon pills hidden inside a vehicle arriving from Lebanon, the customs authority said on Saturday.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of Land and Sea Ports, the narcotics were found during a detailed inspection. The pills had been concealed in what the statement described as a “sophisticated and tightly sealed manner.”

The operation is part of ongoing national efforts led by the customs authority in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Interior Ministry to combat smuggling and prevent the flow of illegal drugs into the country.

The directorate said the seizure reflects a broader government strategy to protect national security and shield citizens from the dangers of narcotics trafficking.
