Sweida events investigation committee interrogates several suspects

Damascus, SANA – The Investigation Committee into the Sweida events interrogated several individuals suspected of committing violations after they appeared in videos circulated on media and social media.

In a statement to SANA, committee spokesman Ammar Ezzedine confirmed that it is investigating the suspects to take the necessary legal action against them, with a view to referring them to the judiciary and prosecuting them in accordance with applicable Syrian laws.

Ezzedine stressed that the Syrian state will hold accountable all those involved in committing violations in the wake of the recent events in Sweida, from all sides, as part of the effort to achieve justice and enforce the law.

Ministry of Justice formed a committee to investigate the Sweida events on July 31. Its mandate was to uncover the circumstances that led to these events, investigate the attacks and violations against citizens, and refer those proven to have participated in them to the judiciary.
