Daraa's grape production this season is estimated at 10,000 tons

Daraa, SANA – The Directorate of Agriculture in Daraa Governorate estimated farmers’ grape production during the current season at approximately 10,000 tons.

Hassan Al-Ahmad, head of the Department of Economics and Agricultural Planning at the Directorate of Agriculture, clarified in a statement to a SANA reporter that the area planted with grapes during the current agricultural season amounted to 604 hectares, including 302,000 trees.

Al-Ahmad pointed out that grapes are one of the most important crops produced during this period of the year, despite the decline in cultivated areas in recent years.

Grape cultivation has declined in recent years for reasons related to the difficulty of farmers reaching their farms and providing basic service operations, while suffering from the high cost of rehabilitating old farms, which has negatively affected the cultivated area and production.
