Israeli airstrikes on Gaza beach kill at least 33, including journalist

GAZA, SANA – At least 33 civilians, including a journalist, were killed and around 50 others were wounded this evening in an Israeli airstrike targeting a beachfront rest area in Gaza.

Medical sources reported that Israeli warplanes struck al-Baqa rest area along the coast of Gaza, resulting in the killing of at least 33 people and the wounding of nearly 50 others, including some seriously.

Among the fatalities was journalist Ismail Abu Hatab. Journalist Bayan Abu Sultan was also injured in the attack, though the nature and severity of her injuries remain unclear.

With Abu Hatab’s killing, the number of journalists killed since the start of the ongoing genocide against Gaza 21 months ago has risen to 227.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have waged a relentless genocide on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of 56,531 civilians, the majority of whom are women and children.  At least 133,642 others have also been injured.

This toll remains incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.
