Riyadh, Feb.10 (SANA) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Israeli occupation authorities’ plans to annex the West Bank, saying the move seeks to impose a new reality through settlement expansion and changes to the legal status and standing of Palestinian land, including occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement issued on Monday, the organization said Israel’s settlement policy “constitutes a war crime and a flagrant violation of international law”, as well as relevant United Nations resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2334, in addition to the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice.
The organization renewed its call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and take immediate measures to put an end to all crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites.
On Sunday, the Palestinian Presidency also condemned the Israeli annexation plans, describing them as a continuation of the comprehensive war waged by the occupation against the Palestinian people.
Israeli occupation authorities continue their open escalation against the Palestinian presence in the West Bank as part of settlement-driven annexation policies aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and eliminating any opportunity for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
