Jerusalem, Feb.02 (SANA) The population of the Gaza Strip has declined by roughly 254,000 people, a 10.6% decrease compared with pre-war estimates, according to a study cited by The Guardian.
Conducted by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, the study reported that by the end of 2025, nearly 18,600 children and around 12,400 women had been killed in Gaza.
Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025, hundreds of Palestinians have continued to die.
The report highlighted a collapse in international law protections, noting the widespread commission of war crimes with near-total impunity. Since the outbreak of the conflict, an estimated 71,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 171,000 injured.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said that since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli forces have killed 509 Palestinians and wounded 1,405. In a recent acknowledgment, the Israeli army confirmed for the first time in more than two years the accuracy of Gaza’s official figures, which report over 70,000 deaths since October.
