Iraq has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s ratification of two draft laws aiming to annex the West Bank and the Ma’ale Adumim settlement east of Jerusalem, calling it a “flagrant violation of international law” and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
In a statement, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said the move constitutes a “direct violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people” and undermines regional stability by imposing sovereignty over occupied territories and consolidating settlements.
“These expansionist measures threaten security and stability across the region and seek to establish a permanent occupation reality,” the ministry said, reaffirming Iraq’s support for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Iraq urged the international community to uphold its legal and humanitarian responsibilities and to stand firmly against Israeli policies targeting the Palestinian people.
