WHO: More Than 500 Palestinian Deaths from Starvation in Gaza in 2025

The World Health Organization reported that over 500 Palestinians have died from starvation and malnutrition in Gaza since the start of 2025, amid the ongoing blockade and severe restrictions on humanitarian aid.

Tarik Jasarevic, the organization’s spokesman, stated in an interview with Russian news agency Novosti that starvation deaths have surpassed 500, while more than 15,500 Palestinians urgently require medical evacuation. He noted that Gaza’s health system is on the brink of collapse, with only 13 of 36 hospitals still operational.

Jasarevic urged the international community to act swiftly, providing essential medical supplies, fuel, and logistical support to sustain health facilities in Gaza. Despite the ceasefire agreement implemented on the 10th of this month, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains dire.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli authorities have allowed only limited amounts of humanitarian aid to enter through two of Gaza’s seven crossings.
