New York, SANA – More than 20 international relief agencies have issued Wednesday an urgent appeal to the United Nations and world leaders, calling for immediate intervention to halt Israel’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, ahead of the UN General Assembly next week.
In a statement issued by “Save the Children”, the agencies noted that Israel has carried out four out of five acts of genocide as defined by the 1948 Genocide Convention, warning of an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in the territory.
The statement also warned against the militarization of humanitarian aid, the continuation of the blockade, and ongoing attacks that endanger civilian lives. The agencies called on the international community to employ all political and legal means to stop the violence and end the occupation.
These demands come amid escalating Israeli attacks on Gaza City, widespread displacement, and home demolitions, in the context of Arab and international condemnation and warnings of an imminent humanitarian disaster.
