UN Expresses Solidarity with Victims of Afghanistan Earthquake

New York, SANA-UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his deep solidarity with the people of Afghanistan following the powerful earthquake that struck the country, claiming hundreds of lives.

In a post on the X platform, Guterres extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He stressed that the UN team in Afghanistan “stands ready and will spare no effort to assist those in need in the affected areas.”

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit the Hindu Kush Mountain region in northeastern Afghanistan. According to the latest figures from the Afghan Ministry of Interior, at least 622 people were killed and hundreds more injured.
