Red Cross urges protection of medical facilities and journalists in Gaza

Geneva, SANA-The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting medical facilities in Gaza, calling the attacks “unacceptable” due to the loss of life and destruction of critical infrastructure essential for patient care.

In an official statement, the ICRC said: “The damage inflicted on a healthcare facility such as the Nasser Medical Complex, and the killing and injury of medical staff, journalists, and patients, is unacceptable.”

The statement emphasized that Nasser Complex is one of the last remaining major hospitals still operating in southern Gaza.

The statement calling for the protection of medical facilities and journalists in accordance with international humanitarian law, urging all parties to take every possible measure to support their work and ensure their safety.

This statement comes in response to the bloody massacre perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces, who launched two consecutive airstrikes on Nasser Medical Complex, which caused the deaths of 22 Palestinians, including journalists, medical personnel, and civil defense personnel, amid a genocidal war that has been ongoing for nearly 23 months.
