New York, SANA-Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini warned that child malnutrition cases in Gaza have tripled in under six months due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and military campaign, describing the crisis as “man-made starvation.”
He stressed that aid agencies have been prevented from delivering essential supplies for half a year and urged immediate humanitarian access. UNRWA has screened nearly 100,000 children under five since March, revealing alarming levels of malnutrition.
The agency also reported that one million women and girls face “real famine,” while the World Food Programme estimates 500,000 Gazans are on the brink of starvation, with the rest enduring severe food insecurity.
