UN’s Albanese: Israel is deliberately killing children, starving millions in Gaza Strip

New York, SANA-The Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, accused Israel of killing children and starving millions, stressing that Israel’s intention “is to erase Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.”

Commenting on the starvation death of a disabled Palestinian in Gaza, Albanese said in a post on the X platform: “Our generation was raised to believe that Nazism was the greatest evil… and today there is the state of Israel that deliberately starves millions and shoots children.”
Regarding what is happening in the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera quoted Albanese as saying: “There are no words to describe what is happening in Gaza.”

The UN rapporteur considered that the international community is “rewarding Israel.”

For his part, UNICEF regional spokesperson Salim Aweys told Al Jazeera: “Israel is refusing many requests for aid entry, which has led to what we are seeing now in the Gaza Strip.”

Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, confirmed that the visas of local leaders from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which supports Palestinians in Gaza, have not been renewed in recent months.
UN Humanitarian Chief Tom Fletcher told the Security Council last Wednesday that the situation in Gaza was “beyond description,” adding, “Israel is failing in its obligations under the Geneva Conventions to provide for the needs of civilians.”
