SANA Unveils Comprehensive Editorial and Digital Transformation

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) has launched a new phase under the title “SANA… A Turning Point,” marking a significant step in its editorial and digital development.

The initiative includes a complete restructuring of the editorial department, intensive training for journalistic staff, and the establishment of a Digital Media Directorate powered by artificial intelligence technologies. These efforts aim to modernize news production, enhance accuracy and speed, and strengthen SANA’s digital presence.

According to Editor-in-Chief Saer Al-Bakour, the plan focused on upgrading human resources and equipping them with advanced tools to improve professional performance.

Aref Watad, Director of the Correspondents’ Department, highlighted that SANA now has more than 200 correspondents inside and outside Syria, producing over 100 visual and photographic reports weekly on domestic and international issues.

Assistant Director Nawar Al-Shebli emphasized the rebuilding of agency offices across Syrian governorates and abroad, as well as the recruitment of experienced correspondents to meet global media standards. Meanwhile, search engine specialist Ghassan Habak noted that staff are now trained in digital journalism and audience-driven keyword strategies to enhance visibility on digital platforms.

The launch event, held at the National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus, was attended by government ministers, foreign diplomats, and representatives from regional and international media institutions.
