Health Ministry and World Bank discuss revitalizing Syria’s healthcare sector

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Health, Dr. Musab al-Ali, has met with Raja Kattan, the World Bank’s Regional Officer for Social Affairs and Human Capacity Development in the Middle East, to explore prospects for cooperation in the healthcare sector and discuss ways to provide support for revitalizing Syria’s health system.

During the meeting, held Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, Dr. Al-Ali outlined the pressing needs of Syria’s healthcare sector, which has suffered significant deterioration. These include rebuilding healthcare facilities, securing medical equipment, upgrading the ambulance system, and ensuring the availability of cancer medications and specialized drugs.

He emphasized the importance of partnerships with various communities and international organizations to support health projects and rebuild Syria’s healthcare system as a first step toward improving services for citizens.

Kattan, for her part, stressed the necessity of strengthening joint cooperation and developing a unified strategy to rebuild Syria’s healthcare sector. She highlighted the importance of identifying priorities and implementing key projects promptly.
