Health Ministry, “Revive” Initiative discuss health sector promotion

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Maher al-Sharaa, discussed with a delegation from the “Revive” Recovery and Reconstruction Initiative ways to unify efforts and endeavors aimed at improving the situation of the health sector in Syria, in a way that would serve the interests of hospitals and patients.

That came during a meeting held Sunday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus.

The two sides tackled the possibility of strengthening cooperation through the rehabilitation of some medical specialties which suffer from a severe shortage of medical personnel, underlining the need to build a sustainable health system.

Dr. al-Sharaa stressed the importance of coordination to upgrade the level of health services in light of the current challenges, including the lack of equipment and weak infrastructure.

He highlighted the need to coordinate humanitarian work in Syria with all organizations and initiatives concerned with the health situation.
