Damascus, Feb. 9 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Health held talks on Monday with a European Union delegation on expanding the bloc’s activities in the country, including plans to open a permanent office in Damascus.
The discussions were held between Ayman Abu Laban, the general coordinator of the National Health Program at the Health Ministry, and a delegation from the EU mission led by Francesco Caleprico, the ministry said in a statement.
The two sides reviewed proposals for the EU to establish an office in Damascus staffed by permanent personnel, as well as plans for field visits to several provinces to assess needs in the health sector and provide support, the statement said.
They also discussed new projects expected to be signed in the coming period, with durations of three to four years, focusing mainly on primary health care.
The meeting comes as the Health Ministry seeks to broaden cooperation with international partners to improve medical services and support Syria’s health sector.
