Damascus, SANA – Minister of Health, Musab al-Ali, discussed Thursday with a French delegation headed by The French chargé d’affaires in Syria, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the health field, and ways to coordinate future visits that include French businessmen.

During the meeting, Al-Ali stressed the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate in the fields of rehabilitation and restoration of hospitals and facilities for medical tourism, in addition to investing in the pharmaceutical industries.
Al-Ali articulated that the health sector in Syria has suffered significant damage to infrastructure over the past years, and pointed to a shortage of MRI and CT scanners, ambulances, and some quality medicines, particularly anesthetics and cancer drugs.
The French delegation stressed that supporting the Syrian health sector is a priority for France, expressing its readiness to provide the necessary assistance and expand areas of cooperation through future mutual visits.
