Daraa, SANA- Sheikh Maskin city in the Daraa countryside witnessed an armed clash between a General Security patrol and a group of armed robbers, while carrying out a mission to recover stolen public property.
“The gunmen opened fire on the patrol as soon as it arrived at the robbery site, the group had entered the city with the aim of stealing a water well drilling rig; security forces responded to the sources of fire, leading to an immediate clash.” A security source told SANA.
The source indicated that the clash resulted in the death of one member of the group and the injury of three others, while the others fled.
The patrol members were also able to confiscate weapons from the group, including an RPG launcher, an RPK machine gun, and a Kalashnikov rifle.
Security forces transported one of the injured to the hospital for treatment
The source said that no security personnel were injured, and that the relevant authorities have begun investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident, the motives for opening fire on the patrol, and the pursuit of the fugitives to bring them to justice.
