Pomegranate planting is widespread in Daraa province

Daraa, SANA – Daraa Province has witnessed a surge in pomegranate cultivation, with the governorate’s Agriculture Directorate estimating pomegranate production during the current season at about 33,000 tons.

Director of Agriculture Ahed al-Zoubi said that pomegranate cultivation is widespread in most areas of the province, with the cultivated area reaching 1,850 hectares and containing approximately 1.1 million trees.

The Directorate of Agriculture continues to support this vital sector, which has contributed to enhancing agricultural production, as pomegranate cultivation constitutes an important tributary to the local economy and a source of improving the income of rural families.
