Beijing, July 21(SANA) The Syrian national mathematics team won a bronze medal and three merit certificates at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2026, hosted by China from July 10 to 20 with the participation of 117 countries.
The Syrian Distinction and Creativity Agency stated on its Facebook page on Tuesday that the Syrian team ranked second among Arab countries.
The Agency emphasized that this achievement reflects the advanced scientific level reached by the national teams, strengthening Syria’s presence in international scientific Olympiads and affirming the ability of its students to compete and achieve honorable results.
The Syrian national biology team also won a bronze medal through student Zein Azar Al Zahr from Damascus, during the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026), hosted by Lithuania from July 12 to 19.
Meanwhile, the national chemistry team won a silver medal and three bronze medals at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2026), hosted by Uzbekistan from July 10 to 19 with the participation of 98 countries.
