Over 61,000 heads of male sheep and goats exported from Tartous Port to Saudi Arabia

Tartous, SANA- The Directorate of Agriculture in Tartous announced that the number of livestock exported this year, as of Monday, from Tartous Port to Saudi Arabia has reached approximately 53,000 heads of Awassi male sheep and 8,500 heads of mountain male goats.

The Head of the Animal Health Division at the Directorate of Agriculture in Tartous, Mohannad Qaddour, told SANA that the export activity is highly beneficial economically, with positive returns for the country. It also positively impacts livestock breeders by stimulating the livestock market and alleviating the hardships faced by breeders, particularly due to scarce rainfall and limited grazing areas.

Qaddour emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture works diligently and continuously to develop and take care of livestock resources.
