Damascus, June 29 (SANA)    Damascus Chamber of Commerce businessmen met on Monday with a delegation from Türkiye’s Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD), comprising 23 businessmen and industrialists, to discuss opportunities for new investment and trade partnerships aimed at expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, the chamber said.

The meeting, which comprised more than 100 Syrian traders and businessmen, addressed priority issues including facilitating visa procedures for Syrian businessmen and drivers, addressing obstacles to Syrian trucks entering Türkiye, developing banking transfer services, encouraging Turkish banks to open branches in Syria, and presenting the new investment law and its incentives for industrial and investment projects, according to a statement.

Damascus Chamber of Commerce Chairman Issam al-Gharyouti said the next phase requires moving from traditional trade relations to investment and production partnerships that add value to both the Syrian and Turkish economies, affirming the chamber’s readiness to provide necessary support to facilitate direct communication between businessmen and encourage joint projects.

MÜSİAD President Nivaf Kilic said Syria represents an important economic partner, expressing Turkish businessmen’s desire to establish long-term investments and partnerships, encourage economic delegation exchanges and expand cooperation across various sectors.

On the sidelines of the meeting, bilateral business sessions were held between members of the Turkish delegation and their Syrian counterparts to discuss cooperation and direct partnerships across various economic sectors.

MÜSİAD, founded in 1990, is one of Türkiye’s largest business associations, representing more than 50,000 businessmen across over 90 branches worldwide, including a recently established branch in Syria. The organization is known for its annual international fair in Istanbul, which brings together thousands of companies from dozens of countries.
