Damascus, June.21 (SANA) The 21st edition of the Arab International Food Industries and Packaging Exhibition, Food Expo 2026, kicked off/launched on Sunday under the patronage of the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry at the Damascus Fairgrounds, where it will continue through June 25.

More than 300 local, Arab and international companies are exhibiting in the exhibition, which aims to promote Syrian food products and value-added exports, explore commercial and investment opportunities, and strengthen partnerships among Syrian, Arab and international companies in a way that contributes to enhancing production capacities and creating new employment opportunities.

Director General of the Syrian Institution for Fairs and International Markets, Mohammad Hamza, said the exhibition attracted unprecedented visitor turnout on its opening day, reflecting growing interest in the food manufacturing sector and the importance of the event as a specialized economic platform bringing together producers, investors and industry stakeholders.

Hamza noted that this year’s edition features the participation of more than 300 companies specializing in food industries and packaging from over ten countries. He pointed out that the vast majority of exhibitors are Syrian companies seeking to support domestic food production and strengthen its competitiveness locally, regionally and internationally through promotion and the opening of new export markets.

He added that the food industry is among Syria’s most competitive economic sectors, despite sustaining significant damage during previous years. He stressed that both the Syrian Institution for Fairs and International Markets and the Ministry of Economy and Industry place particular emphasis on supporting the sector and helping Syrian food products regain their competitive position in international markets while increasing food exports.

Al-Shammaa said Syrian food products are distinguished for their quality, high standards, distinctive taste and competitive pricing, factors that have made them effective ambassadors for Syrian industry in international markets.

The exhibition features a wide range of sectors, including edible oils, bakery products and grains, infant foods, canned goods, dairy products and cheeses, confectionery, meat and meat products, bottled water and juices, poultry and fish products, as well as raw materials for food manufacturing and packaging machinery and supplies.
