Abu Dhabi, May 22 (SANA) Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced Friday the launch of an integrated multimodal land logistics network that combines dry ports, freight warehouses and rail-linked transport infrastructure to support industrial supply chains across the United Arab Emirates.

The new network includes the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), operated by KEZAD Group, one of the UAE’s largest developers and operators of integrated economic zones, free zones and industrial real estate.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), the initiative is designed to reinforce the role of Khalifa Port and Fujairah ports as major gateways for industrial cargo movement at both the domestic and regional levels.

As part of the initiative, the group signed memoranda of understanding with four leading UAE industrial companies: Emirates Global Aluminium, EMSTEEL Group, Al Ghurair Iron & Steel and Tenaris.

The agreements are intended to strengthen cooperation in industrial freight transport and expand the role of the companies within the group’s rail-connected land logistics network.
Abu Dhabi Ports said the new system is expected to improve the movement of raw materials and finished goods, increase the flexibility of trade corridors and reduce dependence on single shipping gateways.

The network will further support the competitiveness of national supply chains by improving connectivity between ports, industrial zones and regional markets.

Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said expanding land freight links between ports, industrial centers and end markets would support the UAE’s industrial growth strategy.

He added that the initiative would improve trade corridor options for strategic goods across the UAE and the wider region.
