Damascus, Mar. 13 (SANA) Head of General Authority for Ports and Customs, Qutaiba Badawi, discussed Thursday with Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, several economic and trade issues of mutual interest for the two brotherly countries.
The meeting comes on the sidelines of a visit by a high-ranking Jordanian government delegation to Syria.
The two sides tackled ways to enhance trade between Syria and Jordan, emphasizing the need to facilitate the entry of Syrian goods and products into the Jordanian market and ensure their smooth transit through flexible procedures that contribute to supporting trade activity between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to facilitate the passage of Syrian trucks to the Port of Aqaba for loading and unloading operations, and to facilitate the passage of Jordanian trucks to Syrian ports for the same operations.
The step will enhance integration in the transport and logistics sector and open broader horizons for regional trade.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of leveraging the strategic geographic locations of Syria and Jordan and developing cooperation mechanisms to transform the two countries into regional hubs for assembling and re-exporting goods to Gulf and European markets. This, they noted, would boost trade and revitalize the transport and logistics sector.
In a statement to SANA, Mazen Alloush, Director of Public Relations at the General Authority for Ports and Customs, said “in light of the current regional circumstances and the challenges they pose to transport and trade, an agreement was reached to allow Syrian trucks carrying goods of Syrian origin to enter Jordanian territory, and vice versa, without requiring transshipment at the border.”
This measure aims to facilitate the movement of goods and expedite their delivery to markets.
